Introducing the "Bar Chords album"—a collection of debut tracks produced by two-time Grammy winner, Marlow Rosado, featuring music and lyrics by Michael Brown.
I create the music and lyrics for 3ChordChristian because every song is rooted in real life—my own experiences, the people who’ve shaped me (for better or worse), and the stories of those in my closest circles. At the heart of it all is my faith and a deep desire to spread the message of Jesus Christ. Our first album, Bar Chords, was designed to bring that message into places where it’s not always easy—or even welcome—to speak openly about Him. These are country Christian songs with a purpose: to plant seeds of faith in subtle, honest ways. Some listeners might not even realize right away that every lyric is grounded in living by His Word—but that’s exactly the point.
This little tune from the Bar Chords album speaks to what's on loan to us versus what is given when we make our maker front and center. Life is borrowed, while the promise of eternity is given, much like the heartfelt messages found in many Christian songs and country music.

Many of us have had one (or two) on the 7th day, but this one's about how to raise up our lives in thanks and praise to Christ, who died, was buried and rose to bring us all to salvation. This message is often echoed in the Bar Chords album, featuring uplifting Christian songs that resonate with the spirit of gratitude. Amen!

I wrote this one about our trips to Lake Weiss in Alabama with great friends, wave runners, and of course the dog. We often find ourselves getting lost while raising our kids away from the storm my wife and I grew up around, reminiscing about the Bar Chords album playing in the background, which features some of our favorite Christian songs, blending perfectly with our love for country music over the last 33+ years.

The Hoedown was written to share some life experiences, reflecting on my dad, me, and the violence we've faced—all forgiven as I climb out of a messy life. Leaving Arkansas at an early age, I hopped on a Greyhound bus alone, while mi tia y mi tio came to my aid. Without them, I have no idea where I'd be today. They showed me 'donde da vida,' and their support has influenced my journey, much like the themes in my Bar Chords album and the Christian songs that inspire me in the realm of country music.

I had a neighbor up in Downingtown, PA who lost a son in a fall. I only met the young man once, but I immediately recognized in him a shining light, a testament to the parents who raised him right, and how my boys might rise as well. This inspired me to write a tune for my upcoming Bar Chords album, reflecting on the climb, finding the knots (or working them out), and how crucial it is to remain looking up to our Savior for strength in times of strife. Through this Christian song, I hope to convey the importance of staying open for Him to pull us up and over whatever challenges we face, much like the themes found in country music.

It's amazing how many stories can be told of rough starts and stops, walks and falls, and what's to be learned from it all. This is how we started, sharing our fears and our unwavering trust in God to watch over my kids, especially my two sons serving in the Army and Police force. Just like the heartfelt themes found in our Bar Chords album and many Christian songs, we draw strength from our faith. Maybe your MRAP (Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected) vehicle will help on your mission as a warrior deployed for Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), but no matter what events may come, we're all gonna be okay when our faith is placed in our Lord, much like the resilience often celebrated in country music.
There's a lot of good out there and a big time need for understanding in these uncertain times. Words matter, and so do choices. This thumpy tune from my Bar Chords album is about meaning and making choices in life. Gotta look up in it all. There's a lick in there that reflects on my wife's accident back in 2013, where she made a bad choice, dissected her left carotid, and lived. I remember my kids were teens at the time, and I dropped to my knees, asking God if it would be His will that I not be left alone to raise my kids. We're still married some 34 years, and I find solace in Christian songs and country music that resonate with our journey. Amen.

We Lean..."her mama's had it all and enough... not talkin' good or the bad or the stuff...workin' the night and a life...away. Got here the same as her pa...runnin' on fear of it all...made for a center on self...aware". This one kicks off with these words to talk about a very tough life and how she leaned into the Word without fail and inspired and inspires us all to maintain our personal relationships with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Tells a story about bringing up the little ones along the way and how she passes, leaning all 'long the Way.
This is what we "Lean" into...Him.
